2010 Certified Lincoln Cents
The reverse design for the Lincoln Cent underwent another change for the year 2010. Under the same legislation, which provided for the four different reverse designs of the prior year, a new design was introduced to represent Lincoln's preservation of the United States as a single and united country. The 2010 Lincoln Cent features a depiction of the Union Shield on the reverse. This consists of thirteen vertical stripes bound by a horizontal bar to represent the original thirteen states joined together in support of the federal government. This new reverse design is expected to be used for the forseeable future as a replacement for the Memorial reverse design.
